Jo is a social worker who has worked in a social care and social work settings for 30 years, with a specialist interest in supervision and leadership. She currently works at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust as the Delivery Lead for the national (England) Practice Supervisor Development Programme and is a Senior Lecturer in the Social Care, Leadership and Management Portfolio.

Jo develops learning and development offers to the sector which draw on a range of key theoretical frameworks such as systemic practice, psychoanalytical, psychodynamic, relationship based, restorative practice and leadership models. These offers range from whole system consultation, one-to-one coaching, facilitating reflective group spaces to designing bespoke training courses for continuous professional development. These have included a reflective supervision programme, a “Becoming and Anti-racist practitioner” course and sessions on anti-racist leadership and supervision.

Jo’s research interest is in reflective social work supervision; specifically the psycho-social and emotional aspects of practice and how reflective supervision can be achieved in child and family social work.
