Team coaching
The Tavistock’s ground-breaking work with groups and organisations over the last 70 years means we have an specialism in team coaching. Our experience spans government committees, boards, executive leadership teams and senior management in the corporate and public sector.
Our approach
Our work enables teams to harness their potential for collaboration and creativity whilst responding to the constantly changing environment. We consider teams to be both a collection of individuals and the sum of the whole. We work to surface some of the underlying conflicts and tensions that often create more difficulty kept under the surface than when surfaced with care in a contained space and thought about collectively.
We strive to improve communication, empathy and trust and increase collaboration resulting in a healthy work environment that brings about productivity and good outcomes. Our sensitive approach enables teams to better surface and understand the different perspectives and experiences that they bring as individuals and to proactively manage the blockages which, left unaddressed, can derail them from meeting their team and corporate objectives.
The team coaching programme may consist purely of team coaching, or we may suggest a hybrid model of team and individual coaching which allows for the development of the individual in the team and the team with all its dynamics and potential as a whole entity. Whilst we will propose the model, we think might fit the situation best, you will ultimately choose your preferred option.
Impact
This can be a particularly potent intervention for a team wanting to work at pace and depth and has repeatedly brought about the following impact in the teams we have worked with:
- Improved collaboration and modelling of high performing team behaviours
- Agreement how to deal with complex issues and disagreements.
- Increased productivity and capacity for innovation
- Enhanced ability to work under pressure, increased team, and individual resilience.
- More open, transparent communication, internally and externally
- Improvement in staff wellbeing leading to a decrease in sickness rates and improvements in staff retention.
